Harold Washington: Exploring a Legacy
This event marks the 25th anniversary of Harold’s historic election as
Mayor. Moderated by CBS2 reporter Derrick Blakley, it will feature a
keynote address by award-winning New York Times columnist Gary Rivlin,
author of the acclaimed book Fire on the Prairie.
Our distinguished discussion panelists are all Washington era “insiders” --
close confidants, key members of his administration, and long-time supporters:
Alton Miller, Alice Palmer, Timothy W. Wright, III, Jesus (Chuy) Garcia,
Elizabeth Hollander and Marilyn Katz.
We will also feature a video compiled by Bill Stamets.
There will be time for audience question-and-answer participation. Join us as we
share favorite memories and analyze Harold’s legacy, applying it to the present
and the future.
